In his first monograph, Norman Seeff captures artists on film and in their private surroundings, including Johnny Cash, Ray Charles and Rolling Stones.
Norman Seeff was born in 1939 in South Africa. After studying medicine, he emigrated to the USA in the late ''60s, where he began working as a photographer, at first with little success. After making friends with Patti Smith and photographing Andy Warhol, however, he quickly became a star of the photography scene. Seeff subsequently made a career for himself in LA as art director for United Artists. He created penetrating and memorable portraits of Jonny Cash, Ray Charles, the Rolling Stones and Michael Jackson to name a few. This is his first major monograph.
