Dans les pays du Conseil de l’Europe et de l’Union Européenne, les régions remplissent des fonctions fondamentales d’intégration dans les domaines économiques, sociaux, écologiques et juridiques. Les régions frontalières sont plus spécialement concernées de part les intérêts communs et buts concrets très souvent liés aux expériences historiques. Des coopérations bilaterales et trilatérales se développent et s’organisent dans un cadre institutionnel. Les contributions rassemblées dans cet ouvrage et issues de ce Symposium se penchent sur les politiques nationales et internationales portant sur les activités transnationales. Des exemples de régions d‘Europe, d’Afrique, d’Asie et d’Amérique latine éclairent le propos.
In the countries of the Council of Europe and the European Union regions play an important role with regard to economic, social, ecological and legal functions of integration. This is particularly true in the case of transborder regions which pursue common interests and practical goals often based on historical experience leading to bilateral and trilateral cooperation. The symposium focused on national and international politics concerning transnational activities and discussed cases mainly from Europe, but also from Africa, Asia and Latin America. This volume thus gives a good overview of the current debate on regionalism.
